With the support of a wide range of stakeholders, the groups have developed their ideas into feasible business proposals for four distinct social enterprises. Each group is now seeking funding to realise their proposals in the coming financial year. Each will provide enhanced opportunities for homeless young people to engage in training and employment and build stronger, independent futures.
Llamau has produced a ‘How To’ guide to document this process. It shows what has been achieved and how we have gone about it. We hope to map our path clearly, so that others may follow.
We were driven by our belief that:
- Homelessness services can reduce social and economic exclusion;
- Young people should be assisted to achieve their aspirations, regardless of their circumstances;
- Young people are in the best position to know what services they need and will find helpful.
We have challenged ourselves, commissioners and service providers to enable and support young people to lead these developments.
