Are you a local resident in the Vale of Glamorgan with a spare room and a willingness to help young people?
Llamau has 25 years experience of working with vulnerable young people and set up the Supported Lodgings Scheme in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
The Scheme has been running for several years, and has been successful in helping a number of young people gain the skills and confidence to become independent young adults. It aims to find supportive accommodation for young people who cannot live at home, and is always on the lookout for new lodgings providers.
You don’t need any special qualifications and lodgings providers come from a variety of backgrounds. It doesn’t matter whether you are married or single, working or unemployed, we’d like to hear from you. All you need is a spare bedroom, and a willingness to help a young person develop the skills they will need to move on eventually into their own home.
In return for your help, you will receive full training, payment of up to £140 per week, and regular support from Llamau.
The youngsters you will work with are 16 to 21, many of whom will have been in care. All will have been assessed for their suitability to join the Supported Lodgings Scheme. The length of time a young person will spend living with you will vary according to their individual needs. Normally they will stay until they are ready to move-on into their own accommodation.
