Our first ever Virtual Sleep Over is taking place on 22nd August and we are so excited to announce that our fantastic partner Bouygues UK has come on board as the official sponsor of the event.

Usually at this time of year, we would be planning our Sleep Over at the Principality Stadium. But unfortunately, due to Covid-19, we cannot plan for a physical mass-participation event. That’s why we’ve launched our first ever Virtual Sleep Over.

The Virtual Sleep Over is a challenge event for the whole family. Spend the night sleeping in your lounge, garden, or a den you’ve built yourself, and raise funds to make a Wales without homelessness a reality! We’ve got plenty of fun activities to keep you entertained through the night including shelter building, a bed time story from a special guest, and morning yoga.

We’re thrilled to have the support of our long-time partner, Bouygues UK, which is helping to make the Virtual Sleep Over possible. Bouygues will also be deciding on the winners of the shelter building contest! To enter the contest, all you need to do is post a photo of your shelter on social media tagging #virtualsleepover or email your photo to [email protected]. The more fun, colourful and unique the better, so don’t be afraid to get creative using household items to make the best den you can!

Bouygues UK are one of the UK’s leading construction companies, using their technical expertise to make an impact in both the public and commercial private sectors. Llamau’s relationship with Bouygues’ has stretched over 3 years now and in this time they have raised over £10,000 to help end homelessness.

Over the course of our partnership, Bouygues has not only sponsored our annual Sleep Out but has also entered teams and volunteered at the event. For the past three years, Bouygues has hosted an annual St David’s Day breakfast to raise funds for Llamau, which has also provided us with a fantastic platform to speak about our essential work to create a world without homelessness.

We’ve been so grateful for Bouygues UK’s continued support throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, which has included a donation of over 3,000 face masks for our frontline colleagues and people we support. This incredibly generous donation has helped ensure we can continue to deliver our services, safely, at a time when they are needed more than ever.

When asked why Bouygues UK support Llamau, Justin Moore, Operations Director, said:

“With Llamau being unable to run many of their largest events this year, it is now more important than ever to support them financially. We have all been through very difficult times in this pandemic, however those without a stable and safe home experience comparable hardships on a daily basis. The coronavirus has made many already vulnerable individuals even more at risk of homelessness. This is why Bouygues UK is supporting Llamau”

This year has presented unprecedented hardships for many sectors, with the charity sector being one of the worst hit. We are hugely reliant on our income from fundraising events. With events across the UK being cancelled or postponed, we are facing a potential shortfall of £300,000 in our income for this year.

If you’d like to take part in the Virtual Sleep Over, sign up at the link below. Registration is free, but we’re asking everyone taking part to raise as much as they can! Once you have signed up we’ll send you a fundraising pack with hints and tips to help you smash your target.
