We’re pleased to announce a new partnership with well-established homelessness charity, StreetSmart.

The partnership, which launched on Friday 1st November, welcomed a number of South Wales based restaurants onto the StreetSmart scheme, that to date has helped raise more than £9.6 million for homeless and vulnerable people across the UK.

The scheme works via participating restaurants adding a voluntary £1 to a diner’s bill throughout the festive months of November and December. At the end of each month, the restaurant passes on all of these £1’s to StreetSmart. As an official charity partner of StreetSmart, these £1s are then used to support Llamau's work to end homelessness for young people and women in Wales.

Llamau’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, Jenna Lewis, shared her thoughts on the exciting new partnership,

We’re extremely grateful to be StreetSmart’s chosen charity partner in Wales. The StreetSmart scheme allows both local businesses and members of the public to support people who are already homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in a very simple but impactful way throughout the festive season.

All funds raised through the scheme will go directly to the young people, women and children we support.

A number of local restaurants have already joined the StreetSmart scheme:

Sharing his excitement around the partnership, Jamie Taylor General Manager of the award winning townhouse pub, The Cricketers said,

We’re delighted to be involved with the StreetSmart scheme, supporting Llamau. Our customers have embraced the scheme so far, which we’re confident will continue.

StreetSmart provides our customers with a quick and easy way to give back to the community and to people less fortunate than them during the festive months.

The £1 donation is voluntary and can easily be removed from the bill upon request.
