Coronavirus: How you can help

We understand that this is an uncertain and worrying time for everyone, and we know that you will have your own concerns and priorities at this very difficult time.  However if you are in a position to help we would so appreciate your support.

This is a worrying time for all charities with expected losses for the sector likely to run into hundreds of millions of pounds, and many organisations already struggling financially.

With mass participation events such as marathons and community fundraising like coffee mornings, concerts and pub quizzes all being cancelled, we are currently anticipating a shortfall of around £300,000 as a result of the pandemic.

Many larger charities can resort to cash reserves or absorb the losses into other fundraising streams but for smaller charities like Llamau, our options are limited. We rely increasingly on public support to be able to provide the highest quality services to some of the most vulnerable people in Wales.

We are determined to put the people we support first and protect them, and we would be grateful for any support you can give which would help us to do this.

Thank you.

We are currently anticipating a shortfall of around £300,000 as a result of the pandemic.

We understand that this is an uncertain and worrying time for many of us, and that some of you will be worried about your own finances. However, if you are able to donate, anything you can spare, would really help to ensure that everyone who needs our support is still able to receive it in spite of corona virus.

If you are now working from home, could you consider donating money you would normally spend on coffee, lunch or your commute?

Donate

We understand that some of you may want to support us with donations of things for the people we support, and we have created these lists to give you some guides about what donations are most useful.

Get creative with fundraising from home!

Expand

We know a number of our corporate partners will be unable to go ahead with their planned employee fundraising, which often relies on people getting together for a good cause.  We rely heavily on our fundraising income every year so without it our charity is in a difficult position.

If you are self-isolating or social distancing, you may be feeling fit and well but find yourself with more time on your hands and looking for a creative outlet!  Take on one of our virtual challenges and get friends and family to sponsor you.  You’ll feel better physically and mentally as well as raising money for a vital cause at this difficult time.  How about:

  • Step Challenge
  • Couch 2 5K
  • Run a marathon in a month

Volunteer

Expand

We are seeking innovative ways to support young people and women, so if you are well and able, would you be willing to be added to a database for us to contact for volunteering support if needed? This could involve things like supporting with food shops, providing activities or just support for young people if they need people to talk too, through what may well be a very challenging period.   We would not be asking you to undertake front line delivery and at all times we will be led by the guidance from Public Health Wales. You will not be able to do this if you have any underlying health risks that put you in the high risk category.  If you feel that you can offer or would like to discuss this further please get in touch!
