Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of women and children affected by domestic abuse/trauma?

Due to the development of current volunteers we have opportunities throughout our services. Volunteers offer much needed emotional support and practical help to survivors of domestic abuse and trauma, enabling them to a live a life free from fear and abuse.

Time Commitment

Roughly 2-3 hours every week or fortnight. This could be more depending on your availability.

How you can help

To offer additional support to women and families supported by Llamau. Help build their self-esteem, self-confidence and emotional well-being. This will assist them in developing healthy relationships and pursuits which in the longer term will support their transition towards independence.  

Possible Tasks

  • Encourage Women and families to participate within activities in their community.
  • Encourage Women to access employment, training and volunteering.
  • Accompany Women and families people to activities including; cinema, gym, walks,
  • Accompany young people to appointments i.e.- medical, benefits.
  • Share your skills and interests with the women ie-sport, craft, music.
  • Support women to share their plans and goals.

Qualities and Skills Required

  • An understanding of issues facing women and families who have experienced domestic abuse
  • Ability to relate to and engage women and families who have experienced domestic abuse
  • A non-judgemental, empathetic and caring attitude.
  • A good communicator, understanding the importance of listening effectively.
  • A commitment to the ethos of the organisation, policies and procedures.
  • The ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries

You will receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing training, support and supervision. Travel and expenses for activities will be reimbursed.
