Delyth Takes on Ironman Wales for Llamau! Delyth Lewis from Wales Audit Office recently took on the Ironman Wales Triathlon in Tenby on 9th September, raising over £1000 for Llamau. The Ironman Wales Triathlon is one of Wales’ premier athletic events, with participants facing an epic 112-mile bike ride, 26.2-mile run and 2.4-mile sea swim – one after the other! Delyth completed the gruelling course in 16 hours 21 minutes and 36 seconds – crossing the finish line an incredible 38 minutes and 24 seconds earlier than the target of 17 hours that she had set herself. What makes Delyth’s achievement even more impressive is the fact that only a few years ago, she was afraid of swimming and unable to even put her head underwater. Llamau is one of three charity partners chosen by Wales Audit Office for 2018/19. Delyth said, Llamau was one of my work’s chosen charities this year, I wanted to specifically raise money for the work Llamau does for women and young people who are experiencing a tough time in life. Knowing the difference the sponsorship money was making kept me going when I didn’t think I could swim, cycle or run any further. We’re so proud of Delyth for her phenomenal achievement and are incredibly grateful for her support, and the ongoing support of Wales Audit Office, which is helping us to change the lives of vulnerable people right here in Wales.
