This is a great opportunity to make a difference for your patients with experience of domestic violence and abuse.

Llamau are looking for local, practising clinicians with an interest in domestic violence and abuse (DVA) to become Clinical Leads (CL) for the IRIS Programme in Gwent. Four Clinical Lead posts are needed to cover Newport, Caerphilly, Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent East.

IRIS is an evidence-based domestic abuse training and referral programme developed specifically for general practice, currently being delivered across 30+ areas of England and Wales. For more information on the programme please visit: www.irisi.org

The IRIS Clinical Lead role involves working closely with Llamau to promote the IRIS programme across the area, recruit practices, deliver in-house training at the practices, and act as a source of advice, guidance and support for clinical colleagues on the subject of DVA. We are looking to cover approximately 202 hours of time in this the first (set up) year, at an hourly rate of £83. This time will be divided between the four Clinical Lead posts (or more if a job-share). Please note that the number of hours required will not be evenly spread across the year, so a degree of flexibility will be required.

We are looking for people with flexibility in their time to be available to receive the IRIS training for trainers, attend local steering group meetings and promote and engage practices, especially early on in the programme.  A large proportion of time will then be spent delivering the IRIS clinical training to local general practice teams over a 12 month period.

We are looking for part time practicing clinicians with extensive knowledge of local needs and with links to local primary health care staff.

Each roles are either for:

1 person with at least 3 available days and flexibility with those days or 2 part time clinicians sharing the role, but available on different days to each other so we can offer many options to general practices for training days.

  • The Newport CL/s will be working with up to 17x GP Practices
  • The Caerphilly CL/s will be working with up to 21x GP Practices
  • The Torfaen CL/s will be working with up to 12x GP Practices
  • The Blaenau Gwent CL will be working with up to 6x GP Practices

Clinical Leads may occasionally be asked to support with work outside of their usual working area.

For more information, or to submit and expression of interest, please get in touch with Sam Thomas at [email protected]

The successful candidate will be required to attend the three day (remote) IRIS Train the Trainers course.
