Youth Homelessness will be wiped out in Wales within a decade under plans launched by the First Minister, with an additional £10 million of funding being announced to support those plans from 2019.

On a visit to Llamau, Carwyn Jones said ending youth homelessness was a personal passion. He said:

It is often said that children are our future. No civilised society can tolerate a situation where we have young people who are homeless and nothing is being done to help them. Fantastic work is being done in this organisation but I want to make sure the money's there and the support is there from us as a Welsh Government to end youth homelessness in Wales. For me that would be a fantastic achievement over the next decade.

Frances Beecher, Chief Executive of Llamau said:

For too long young people have been neglected, for too long we haven't coordinated and we haven't looked at vulnerable young people as a whole. We must look at the disadvantage they face and how we can change that.
