We’re pleased to announce a new partnership between Llamau and housing association Hafan Cymru. The partnership will see both organisations roll out workshops across Wales, focused on creating awareness around violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence (VAWDASV) and the impact it has on children and young people.

The workshops have been designed for anyone working with children or young people, to help them understand and identify the signs and behaviours of children and young people experiencing or affected by VAWDASV, and how they can reach out and offer help.

Understanding and recognising the signs of these types of abuse can be very difficult, leading to behaviours being misinterpreted or more worryingly, missed entirely.

Sharing her thoughts on the new workshops, Head of Women’s Services for Llamau, Nic Fitzpatrick said,

At Llamau, we genuinely believe that education is key to ending violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence. These workshops will ultimately allow us the opportunity to ensure those working with children and young people have a clearer understanding of what unhealthy relationship traits could look like through a child’s or young person’s behaviour.

Delivering these workshops in partnership with Hafan Cymru forms an important step on Llamau’s journey to ensuring we live in a world without domestic abuse.

Leigh Martin, Business Development Manager for Hafan Cymru commented on the importance of these workshops for those affected by domestic abuse,

We’re delighted to partner with Llamau to deliver this important awareness raising and training for those who work with children and young people across Wales. These workshops will drive early intervention and support for young victims of VAWDASV.

These half day (3 hours) workshops will focus on the below core areas:

  • Definitions of violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence
