The Covid-19 pandemic, and the resulting cancellation of thousands of events across the UK, will have a devastating financial impact on UK charities, with an anticipated loss of billions of pounds across the sector.

The Virgin Money London Marathon has launched the 2.6 Challenge, to help charities counteract the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Sunday 26th April, when the 40th London Marathon would have taken place, people across the UK will take on a physical challenge based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and raise funds for a charity of their choice.

We’re asking all of our supporters to get involved in the 2.6 challenge and raise funds for Llamau, so that we can continue to deliver vital support for homeless young people and women in Wales.

Why get involved?

It is simply not an option for our services to stop running, and we are working tirelessly to ensure we can continue providing vital support for homeless young people and women who need our support throughout the Coronavirus crisis.

Loss of fundraising events income, combined with a significant rise in demand for our services and additional costs to keep our essential services running, means that we are currently anticipating a shortfall of around £300,000.

We understand that this is an uncertain and worrying time but, if you are in a position to support, no matter how small your donation, will make a huge difference.

How you can get involved

  • Take part. All you need to do to take part is dream up an activity that suits your skills, set up a JustGiving fundraising page and ask your friends and family to sponsor you, and complete your activity on Sunday 26 April! Click the link below to get started now.

Get Involved

  • Sponsor #TeamLlamau. The Friends of Llamau running club is a group of Llamau colleagues, volunteers and supporters. In support of our front-line colleagues, they’ll each be running 2.6 miles to complete a virtual relay and cover as much distance as possible (currently at 4 marathons and counting!) If you’d like to sponsor the Friends of Llamau, check out the JustGiving page here. Or, if you would like to join in, email [email protected] for more information!
