March 8th marks International Women's Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the strength, resilience, and triumph of women worldwide.

At Llamau, this day holds special significance as we continue our crucial work with amazing women throughout Wales. Today, we invite you to join us in commemorating the achievements made possible by your steadfast support, particularly through Llamau's transformative IRIS Programme.

Breaking Chains and Transforming Lives: The Power of IRIS

The IRIS Programme stands as a beacon of hope, offering a lifeline to those affected by domestic abuse. Developed to raise awareness and provide practical support, IRIS focuses on breaking the chains that bind individuals and empowering them to rebuild their lives. It encompasses various facets, from safety enhancements and coping skills to fostering optimism and improving overall health.

Recent statistics showcase the programme's success:

Enhanced Safety: 98% report feeling safer.

Coping Skills: 95% feel better equipped to cope with the challenges they face.

Optimism: 99% express a more optimistic outlook on the future.

Health Improvement: 100% report improved physical and mental health.

Together, through the IRIS Programme, we are creating a safer, healthier future - one that frees lives from the chains of domestic abuse.

Anna's Journey: A Real-Life Transformation

To illustrate the profound impact of your support, let us share the inspiring story of Anna, a survivor who sought help from IRIS last year.

Anna's life was marred by distressing harassment from her abusive ex-partner, who subjected her to physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse. Even after their separation, the relentless stalking continued, leaving Anna feeling trapped and powerless. Llamau stepped in to provide crucial support, offering counselling and mediation to help Anna rebuild her life and mend her relationship with her daughter.

Six months of tailored counselling and unwavering support resulted in a remarkable transformation. Anna realised that the abuse was not her fault, gaining a newfound sense of safety, confidence, and positivity. Her story underscores the enduring impact of abuse and emphasises the critical need for ongoing support.

The Significance of IRIS: Breaking Chains and Building Futures

The IRIS Programme plays a pivotal role in creating lasting change and breaking the cycle of domestic abuse. Through your continuous support, stories like Anna's become a testament to the positive impact we can have on individuals' lives.
